Decorating a Christmas tree is an age old tradition associated with the celebration of Christmas. However in the early days it was a tradition that wasn't upheld due to many religions opposing this practice because it was thought to be of pagan origin.
Nowadays people go to extremes when decorating their Christmas trees even having contests to see whose is more beautiful. There are many different styles to choose from when decorating a Christmas tree. Once you decide on the look that you want to achieve all you will need is spare time, lights, ornaments, a tree skirt and loved ones to help with the fun.
To begin decorating your tree you must first start by placing the tree in a tree stand. White, off-white or colored lights are available, I prefer white non-twinkling lights. Start at the top of the tree and work your way down positioning the strand of lights evenly around the whole tree. The ornaments that you choose to decorate the tree with are what will set your tree apart from all of the rest. There are ornaments available to fit any theme. After you are done decorating the Christmas tree with lights and ornaments typically an angel or star is placed on the top of the tree to complete the look.
Make decorating the Christmas tree a fun family oriented task. Play Christmas music in the background and enjoy a glass of hot chocolate or cider with your family while you each place ornaments on the tree.
